Turvalliset koulumatkat
Lapsia viedään yhä
useammin autolla kouluun ympäri maailmaa. Kehitystä pyritään kääntämään nyt
päinvastaiseen suuntaan. Koulumatkan taittamisesta
Useimmissa maamme kouluissa polkupyörällä saa tulla kouluun kolmannesta luokasta alkaen. Sitä ennen koulussa olisi hyvä opetella tärkeimmät liikennesäänöt sekä yhteistyössä koulun ja kodin kanssa käydä läpi ja harjoitella turvallinen koulureitti.
Tälle sivulle on koottu
linkkejä, joista löytyy apua liikennekasvatuksen suunnittelussa.
Lisäksi kevään 2007 aikana näille sivuille avataan uusi 1.-3. luokille
suunnattu pyöräilymerkki-opetusmateriaalipaketti.

Only 1 in 9 children take enough exercise, and less than 10% of 7-8
year olds are allowed to travel to school on their own (compared to 80%
twenty years ago). Cycling and walking to school is a key area where
the provision of safe routes has a great impact upon children's health,
their independent mobility, and on congestion.

Safe Routes Portland - The City of Portland Office of Transportation, Oregon USA
The idea is
- to examine the routes that children must take to get to and from school, paying particular attention to places where they must cross major roads
- to identify and recommend relatively safe routes through engineering analysis
- to propose improvements to make these routes even safer
- to supply students and parents with a map indicating suggested routes
- to encourage kids to walk or bike to school
School Travel Plans - Uusi-Seelanti
A school travel plan sets out a package of measures that aims to
meet the objectives above, backed by a partnership involving the school
community and local authority.
The plan can be as simple or as comprehensive as you wish and is likely
to include measures and activities that you propose to incorporate into
your school strategy or development plan, as well as infrastructure
requirements to be implemented by council.
Walking School Bus - Uusi-Seelanti
A walking school bus is a group of parents rostered to walk with a
group of children to and from school. Children are picked up and
dropped off at specific stops on a designated route by parent
volunteers who act as drivers.
Walking school buses are often set up as a part of a school travel
plan. However, your school can easily set up a walking bus without
having a school travel plan. Funding is available to schools to help
set up walking buses.
